I love the 'Ludlow Hall' series by this author and was surprised to receive a notification about this book today. I was also a little sceptical about the theme. Whilst I do like reading HP novels when the mood strikes, I was surprised that this author would write a 'sheikh' story. Anyway I downloaded it since she is one of the few writers I trust to deliver a good book. I didn't put it down until I'd finished it.There isn't another summary so here goes: Our h is the widow of a much older man, who'd been the King of a small country somewhere in the middle East (I suppose, since it's fictional). The former King leaves a letter behind saying that he wanted the h to marry the H asap and have children. The H meanwhile, is a gorgeous, womanising, playboy artist with a shocking reputation and he also gives in to his family's wishes to marry the h for the sake of peace in their region. The H is also the youngest son of another King. Our H expects to be marrying an older woman desperate for children. What a surprise when they meet each other and have an immediate chemistry. The H is all alpha and very commanding but the h gives as good as she gets. The H tends to be very dark and brooding (as you'd expect of an artist). There is the suspense side with an awful villain and the promise of a new series.

There was a fair bit of angst (reminded me of some of the NA stuff out there) and a little hint of dark urges, but fortunately that wasn't played out to any real extent. There is the usual steamy stuff that the author writes. I liked the way the h really understood the H and handled his very dark moments.
A very engaging book and I look forward to reading more about the H's older brother and the h's former, female bodyguard.

This book by C.C. MacKenzie is a fantastic read. I got lost In the story and couldn't put it down until it was finished. CC has become a must read author for me.
She did it again! Another great book! I can't wait for the next one! Once you start reading about charisse and her story you can't help but love her and hope she wins the battle to not only get over her past but to let Khalid to her heart to help her and himself over come what they need to
this was a very good read, I have enjoyed all of her Ludlow Hall Stories and this is a new series and it will be just a interesting and not wanting to put it down type of book. I love this type of book that has a lot of plots going on and they are all connected. I would recommend this book very highly. Can't wait for her next book to come out)
I love this author, and all her stories, She has a way of weaving her characters ups, downs and even their sideways into the fabric of your heart and soul every time. So I was so surprised to stumble on this unknown book of hers. How did I not know this was out there? The intrigue, thrills suspense and hot sexiness of Charisse and Khalid will leave you breathless and wanting more....
there is a reason that CC MacKenzie is one of my very favorite authors, her books never fail to amaze me. Strong women who are not afraid to love the strong but vulnerable men in their lives. I am totally in love with Khalid, his troubled soul won me over from page one. Charisse is one tough cookie..her ability to see the truth in everything was just beautiful. I'm looking forward to more books in this series...Hopefully Sarif and Bella will capture or hearts next. (hint hint Christine)
This story was so good. I loved that Charisse and Khalid were far from perfect. They each had their demons to deal with and conquer. CC did a great job with Charisse. She was strong, opinionated and fierce. I love that she was open and willing to fight for what she wanted, but also knew when to retreat. I do hope that there is a story on Sarif and Bella and one on Wllow as well.
I recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
What a wonderful way to start a series. I have never read a C C Mackenzie book I didn't like. Her characters are always well developed and I feel like I seamlessly enter someones life for a few hours and its a grand escape.
In this book expect the unexpected it does everything you want, it makes you laugh, makes you cry and the steamy parts are all there. It is the total package. And while you think you make have already read a book similar, let me assure you, you have not!
I won't repeat the jacket cover as what help is that,you already read that. The Heroine is no push over and she has a thing or two to teach her "rock star".
If you love romance, laughter some intrigue and HEA then this is not a suggestion, its a must read. ) The book is a total delight and I have read it three times already. Thank you C C Mackenzie
